Parks Canada will manage parking at Johnston Canyon and collect information for display on the Variable Messaging systems along the highway.

Automated counters will monitor capacity at the Johnston Canyon parking lot and this information will be relayed to real-time displays (or Variable Messaging Systems), along TransCanada Highway throughout the Corridor. Visitors will learn of congested areas early in their commute to the Corridor, when they can make informed decisions about the location or timing of their visit. As will be standard throughout the Corridor, parking will be managed by variable parking fees, and when key areas become full, the access roads will be managed to keep vehicles from parking along the ditches, where they currently create hazards and mobility challenges for humans and wildlife.
