Pedestrian and Wildlife Crossings

West of Canmore

The Bow Smart Mobility Partnership...

is about offering choice and reducing traffic-related pressures. The addition of wildlife and pedestrian crossings to the TransCanada Highway west of Canmore will aid in the pursuit of both these goals.

Pedestrian and wildlife movement are currently hindered in the area west of Canmore. The Strategy calls for improvements to the mobility of people and wildlife by introducing new crossing structures between Canmore and the Banff National Park gate. These measures will provide crossing alternatives for wildlife, replacing uncontrolled crossings at the end of the wildlife fencing near Harvie Heights. Bicycle / pedestrian overpasses for humand will likewise improve human access from Harvie Heights to the Canmore Nordic Centre.
