Wildlife Crossings

Lake Louise Drive

New Modes
In support of the Bow Smart Mobility Partnership...

Lake Louise area partners will remain diligent in providing wildlife crossings in key areas, including heavily used access roads.

With the TransCanada Highway twinning will come new barriers to wildlife movement, notwithstanding new crossing structures across the highway. Given that this area is one of three crucial ‘reproductive engines' for grizzly bears in the Banff National Park region. Once the current phase of TransCanada twinning is complete, wildlife crossing structures should be constructed across Lake Louise Drive and/or Whitehorn Drive as deemed necessary in the course of this study. These crossing structures will improve the flow of human as well as wildlife traffic, providing a win-win solution in this highly sensitive area.
