Lake Louise Johnston Canyon Banff Canmore BC Border HWY 40 Improve Safety on Hwy 1A   will undertake to improve the state of repair and safety standards of Highway 1A between Ghost Lake and Highway 1X. As traffic volumes on Highway 1 approach the capacity of the road, and as growth continues in the Calgary-Cochrane corridor, more use of Highway 1A between Seebe and Cochrane is expected. The safety improvements will involve realignment and upgrading of what will remain a two-lane highway, and will improve the road's collision record. Additional signage for visitor attractions will be installed to call attention to destinations such as Ghost Lake, Nakoda Lodge and Mount Yamnusca.
