Wildlife Crossings

Near Canmore

will actively and continuously improve and enhance wildlife crossing opportunities for wildlife.

Wildlife crossing structures will be constructed near the Town of Canmore, starting the process of improving wildlife mobility east of Banff National Park. The proposed crossings at Rundle Forebay and Dead Man's Flats will be completed and augmented with additional crossings, as identified through scientific study. New commercial developments in the Canmore area will cause baseline conditions to change. Therefore, maintaining viable habitat for wildlife will remain a perennial issue, requiring continual study and monitoring. Overall, the Regional Mobility Strategy aims to provide sufficient crossing structures to facilitate natural wildlife mobility patterns from the front ranges of the Canadian Rockies to the continental divide.
